CANTON − The Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank (formerly the Stark County Diaper Bank) has grown its service area, and mission to offer support to families experiencing need.
In celebration of the new name and extended services, a new website, heartofohiodiaperbank.org, was introduced to provide information for anyone experiencing diaper need or looking for ways to help the diaper bank.
The Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides support to families with children experiencing diaper need. The diapers purchased, collected, and prepared by Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank volunteers are distributed through 23 community partners in six counties — Stark, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Wayne, Medina, and Harrison.
These partners include food pantries, family service agencies, and faith-based organizations. A complete list is available online.
Each agency has its own set of requirements for qualification to receive diapers and supplies. Anyone experiencing need should contact the agency to assure they meet the requirements.
More than 30,000 diapers a month are distributed with over 700 babies a month receiving diapers.
Each child is provided with 50 diapers a month sizes newborn to 5 and 30 diapers sizes 6 and pull-up diapers. Since May of 2019 when the bank started, it has supplied its partners with over 688,000 diapers.
The Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank also distributes wipes and adult incontinence supplies. Beginning in January 2023, the Diaper Bank will make menstruation supplies available.
Diaper Drives are important to help supplement the diaper bank’s supply. Every diaper donated fills a need in the community. December has several scheduled diaper drives, thanks to the generosity of community supporters.
