Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines yesterday inaugurated its new manufacturing line for baby diapers for export at its facility in Cabuyao, Laguna, the biggest of three expansion projects of the company in the country between 2022 and this year.
In his speech at the event, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said the P864-million investment obtained registration as an export producer of Pampers pull-up pants under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act.
The diaper products from this new line will be exported to Korea and Vietnam.
According to Pascual, sanitary towels, feminine hygiene products, and baby diapers appear to be pandemic- proof, if not pandemic-driven.
The export value of these products, which P&G also manufactures, has jumped over six-fold from $6 million in 2018 to $40 million in 2022. Last year, South Korea was the top export market for these products, followed by Vietnam and Malaysia.
P&G started in the country as Philippine Manufacturing Co. in 1908, becoming the company’s first operational unit in the Far East and the second oldest P&G subsidiary outside North America.
P&G Philippines product brands include Safeguard, Tide, Downy, Ariel, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Oral-B, Olay, and Joy.
Consistently recognized as one of the top taxpayers in the Philippines, P&G has been expanding and integrate your Philippine operations with the rest of the world. It also operates a global business services center that serves one-third of P&G companies worldwide, currently employing 1,600 full-time employees. The Philippines also hosts P&G’s regional operating headquarters to support subsidiaries and affiliates in Asia.
