An Australian fitness fanatic just set a new Guinness World Record for the Most Pull Ups In 24 Hours.

Jaxon Italiano, no relation to our own Eric Italiano, busted out a mind-blowing 8,008 pull-ups in 24 hours.

The previous Guinness World Record for the Most Pull Ups In 24 Hours was 7,715. He bested that and added 293 more pull-ups on top to distance himself from the previous record.

For anyone keeping track at home, that is approximately 334 (333.66) pull-ups per hour for 24 straight hours.

In an article on the GWR website, Jaxon Italiano says the hardest part about the new world record for Most Pull Ups was “getting up to the bar every 30 seconds, that was torture.” He added that “the mental strain you put yourself through, so many times I was close to quitting.”

As is often the case with people chasing new world records, there was a charitable component.

Jaxon Italiano used his record-setting attempt to raise ‘funds for people with dementia.’ And he raised over $1 for every pull-up he did, raising $8,782 in total.

Making this achievement even more impressive is what Jaxon Italiano had to overcome in order to set the new record.

He suffers from rhabdomyolysis which “occurs when damaged muscle tissue releases its proteins and electrolytes into the blood” according to the CDC.

Mr. Italiano set the new Guinness World Record in New South Wales, Australia back in November but it was just certified by GWR.

GWR tracks multiple world records for pull-ups, including ‘most in 60 seconds’ and the ‘most from a helicopter’.
