CANTON −The Stark County Diaper Bank has changed its name to the Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank to reflect the growth in its service area, its Ohio community distribution partners, and mission to offer support to families experiencing need.
The Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides support to families with children experiencing diaper need. Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank volunteers prepare and distribute collected diapers through 23 community distribution partners in six counties – Stark, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Wayne, Medina and Harrison.
These partners include food pantries, family service agencies, and faith-based organizations. A complete list is available on the new website, www.heartofohiodiaperbank.org. Each agency has its own requirements for qualification to receive diapers and supplies.
Several diaper drives are scheduled this month:
Over 30,000 diapers a month are distributed to the community distribution partners, with over 700 babies a month receiving diapers. Each child is provided with 50 diapers a month sizes newborn to 5 and 30 diapers sizes 6 and pull-ups.
The Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank also distributes wipes and adult incontinence supplies.
Beginning in January, the Diaper Bank will make menstruation supplies available to its Community Distribution Partners to help women who struggle affording period items.
